At Crows Nest Vein Clinic you will be treated by highly experienced and specialised health professionals. Dr Nicole has had extensive experience, having trained for a number of years in vascular and cardiothoracic surgery prior to undertaking training in endovenous laser and ultrasound guided procedures. Our Clinic was the first in NSW to use the NeoV Laser technique which causes less bruising than other lasers.

After completing her medical degree, Dr James undertook surgical training in London, United Kingdom and attained Membership of The Royal College of Surgeons in 2006. During her surgical training, she had a strong focus on vascular and cardiothoracic surgery. Dr James trained in some of London’s finest teaching hospitals, learning from the leading vascular surgeons and microsclerotherapists in the United Kingdom. During this time, she gained wide experience carrying out vein procedures including varicose vein ligation and strips as well as microsclerotherapy.
Nicole is also a Fellow of The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and she has a strong focus on holistic patient care. She is a dedicated, compassionate health professional who genuinely cares for her patients and achieving the best outcomes for them.
Nicole has been personally trained by and mentored by Dr Owen Roberts who has operated the Crows Nest Cosmetic and Vein Clinic for the past fifteen years, having performed more than 3000 Laser procedures and 25 000 ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy treatments and is a leading phlebologist in Australia.
Upon retiring, Dr Roberts has chosen Dr James to continue to provide the high standard of clinical care that Crows Nest Vein Clinic has always offered.
Dr James is a member of the Australian and New Zealand Society of Phlebology and keeps up to date with all the latest innovations in the treatment of veins.
Patrick Nielsen qualified as a Sonographer at Queensland University of Technology in 1995 and currently works at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney and teaches in ultrasound at Australian Institute of Healthcare Education, specialising in vascular, musculoskeletal and general ultrasound.
He previously worked as a Vascular Sonographer at St Vincent’s Clinic Vascular Laboratory from 1996 to 2016. He also has his own practice, Mobile Ultrasound Services, performing ultrasound studies in hospitals and aged care facilities in Sydney.
He has presented at ASA national conferences and taught ultrasound at travelling workshops throughout Australia, as well as presenting training courses in Afghanistan, China and Papua New Guinea.
Patrick has been part of the Radiology Across Borders Vital Projects in Samoa, Fiji and Vietnam. He enjoys the collaborative and continual learning challenges offered every day in ultrasound.
